Learn. Explore. Create.
Photography is often best learned by doing it.
My photo walks and workshops combine photography with time outdoors, exploring a location together while working on the aspects of photography that interest you most.
Rather than following a fixed classroom programme, the experience can be adapted to your camera, your level and what you would like to learn. We can work on technical settings, composition and light – but most importantly, on recognising photographs and developing your own way of seeing.
Photo Walks
Grab your camera. Let's go outside.
A photo walk is a relaxed way to discover a location while practising photography along the way.
We walk, explore and stop whenever we find an interesting subject, light or composition. You can ask questions as we go, experiment with different approaches and immediately put what we discuss into practice.
Photo walks can focus on landscape, nature, travel or general photography and are suitable for different levels of experience.
The emphasis isn't on coming home with hundreds of photographs – it's on slowing down, looking more carefully and creating better ones.
Workshops
Focus on what you want to learn.
If you would like to explore a particular aspect of photography in more depth, we can build a workshop around it.
Possible topics include:
Understanding your camera and its settings
Exposure, aperture, shutter speed & ISO
Composition and working with light
Landscape photography
Long exposures & moving water
Travel photography
Wildlife photography basics
Natural-light portrait photography
Photography workflow and image selection
Getting more from your Fujifilm camera
The content can be adapted to your experience, equipment and interests.
Personal & Small Groups
Time to ask questions, experiment and learn.
I deliberately keep photo walks and workshops personal.
They can be organised as an individual one-to-one experience, for two people, or for a small group. This gives us enough time to work with everyone individually rather than following a rigid programme.
You don't need professional equipment. Bring the camera you normally use – whether that's a mirrorless camera, DSLR or another camera you want to understand better.
Where & When
Photography starts with being in the right place.
I am based in the Solothurn region, with plenty of photographic possibilities nearby, from the Jura and Aare to forests, historic towns and open landscapes.
Photo walks and workshops can also be arranged elsewhere in Switzerland depending on the subject and location.
Timing depends on what we want to photograph. Sometimes that means an early morning, sometimes golden hour – and sometimes interesting weather is exactly what we're looking for.
Have Something Specific in Mind?
Let's create your workshop together.
You don't have to choose from a predefined course catalogue.
Tell me what you enjoy photographing, what equipment you use and what you would like to improve. We can then put together a photo walk or workshop around your interests.
